Welcome to my 365 day challenge. Over the next year, I am going to do two things with this blog:

  1. I am going to capture and post new images.
  2. I am going to catalog and post some of the several thousand photos I’ve taken over the last ten (but mostly the last 4) years.

For me, this challenge is going to force me out of my comfort zone by making me actually show my photos to other people. I think I’ve captured some pretty great images, but my work has been a labor of love. I became so consumed by my quest to find my authentic voice that I stopped thinking about sharing my work and getting feedback from others. My process has been to take the picture, review the picture, store the picture on my external hard drive, and then forget about the picture. Creating the image was enough for me. However, after relentless pressure and years of being asked, “When are you going to show more of your photos?” I’ve decided to … well, show more of my photos.

It’s going to be much easier to post newer work. I feel like I’m at a point in my creative process were I am secure enough with who I am and the images I’m capturing that, when I take them, in the back of my head I know others will be seeing them. With some of my earlier work, it’s going to be considerably more difficult. Each one has a story, and they all have special meaning for me. Maybe that’s part of the “artistic” process as well, but being this vulnerable and exposed is going to be something entirely new for me.

So, stay tuned and check back often. I look forward to your company over the next 365 days.

Happy Day!
